Itinerary
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be met by our representative outside customs and immigration hall and will be transferred you to your hotel in Kigali. On arrival at the hotel you will check, in followed by dinner at your hotel.
Overnight: Five to Five Hotel (Dinner)
This hotel is a good point to start or finish a visit to Rwanda. You will enjoy its good service, flair and proximity to most of the attractions in Kigali. It is close to Kigali International Airport and Amahoro Stadium--the National stadium.
Peacefully nestled along picturesque hilltops, Kigali is a thriving African city immediately notable for its cleanliness, orderliness, and hospitality. This tour will take you to the following sites; Nyamata Genocide Church, Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kimironko Market, Inema Arts Center, Presidential Museum, Camp Kigali Memorial, Natural History Museum-Kigali, and Campaign Against Genocide Museum (CAG), where you will be able to immerse yourself in Rwandan history.
Overnight: Five to Five Hotel (Breakfast and Dinner)
You will visit different Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) NGO’S operating in Rwanda, many which emerged to address the needs of widows, orphans and traumatized survivors repercussions of the genocide. Later, you will transfer to Musanze and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Overnight: Villa Gorilla Lodge (Breakfast and Dinner)
This is a small bungalow type hotel situated on the foothils of Africa's ultimate gorilla destination, Volcanoes National Park. It has priceless views of the three dormant mountains found in the park. The rooms are very clean and well decorated with authentic local handicrafts. Considering it's found at a high altitude where temperatures are low, the hot water bottles they provide is a beautiful thought.
Drive to Volcanoes National Park offices for Golden Monkey trekking briefing. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo. Thereafter you will visit Ibyi Iwacu cultural village to experience various aspects of rural cultures and livelihoods of the people there.
The initiative was established to combat poaching in Volcanoes National Park by offering former poachers alternative work and livelihoods. This includes selling crafts. Inspired by the project, so many poachers have influenced those around them to get in involved in gorilla conservation.
Overnight: Villa Gorilla Lodge (Lunch and Dinner)
Trekking to the Diana Fossey Tomb offers an incredible experience physically, emotionally and intellectually. It is one of the most sought after safari activities while visiting Volcanoes National Park and affords good views of forest hogs, forest elephants, a variety of primates and bird species.
Overnight: Villa Gorilla Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Buhanga Eco-Park has been a sacred forest where the Rwandese Kings performed initiation ceremonies; today it is a testimonial to past societies that conducted such rituals. There is an opportunity here to go on a trail walk through the park and see where these rituals took place.
Overnight: Villa Gorilla Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
You will visit Nyungwe Forest National Park and branch off to visit Murambi Genocide memorial, where you will see well-presented museum-style information panels about the genocide, and mass graves with preserved bodies. You will then proceed to Nyungwe and on arrival you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Transfer Time: Volcanoes – Nyungwe 5hrs (260km) (Packed lunch from the lodge is advised)
Overnight: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel (Dinner)
This lodge commands incredible views of Nyungwe forest area thanks to its location atop one of the hills overlooking it. In addition to being the largest single forest block in East Africa, Nyungwe is the biggest water reservoir for Rwanda. After a great day of exploring it, you need a comfortable treat, and that's exactly what you will get at this hotel whose lawns are green and frequently watered
These are black with white ornaments and in case you observe them with in the forest as you track them, you will be amazed how large the group is, there are over 350 to 400 individuals in a group comprising the largest group of the Angolan Colobus Monkeys in Africa. You will additionally view many other primates, birds and the vegetation of this montane forest. After the hike the afternoon will be at leisure.
Overnight: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel (Dinner)
You will transfer to Uwinka RDB park offices for canopy walk. The Canopy walkway consists of three bridges and three towers and is a total length of the walkway is 160m.
The walkway is embedded in a guided tour along Igishigishigi trail.
Overnight: Cormoran Lodge Kibuye (Lunch and Dinner)
You will visit Kibuye town and later transfer to Bisesero Genocide memorial, home to stunning scenery and a stirring genocide memorial. The tour will end with a visit to St. Pierre. You will return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation.
Overnight: Cormoran Lodge Kibuye (Lunch and Dinner)
Akagera National park is a home for animals like lions, elephant, buffalo, Giraffe, zebra and more than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park, most commonly the handsome chestnut-coated impala, but also the diminutive oribi and secretive bushbuck, as well as the ungainly and the world's largest antelope, the statuesque Cape eland. Later, you will have a sunset boat ride on Lake Ihema.
Overnight: Akagera Game Lodge (Lunch and Dinner)
It a colonial styled hotel with old world charm. Sleeping in it feels like taking a journey back to the 1950's. During your time here, you will feel the vibrancy and energy of Mother Nature. See, all rooms have wonderful views of rolling mountains, open plains and Lake Ihema--the second largest lake in Rwanda.
You will get to meet and talk to rangers, anti-poaching patrols and community-projects managers. It's a fascinating insight into the often very political world of modern wildlife conservation in East Africa and the day-to-day running of a protected zone.
Overnight: Akagera Game Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
You will start your game drive heading north and exit the park through the northern gate. Akagera provides you with the opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero.
You will return to Kigali and on arrival you will be dropped off at the Kigali international airport.
