5 days Chimpanzee and Gorillas
Uganda is often called the “Pearl of Africa” for its rich biodiversity, and it is especially famous for its incredible variety of primates. The country is home to more than half of Africa’s primate species, making it a prime destination for primate enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. One of Uganda’s most iconic primates is the Mountain Gorilla, found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. These gentle giants are critically endangered, and Uganda is one of the few places in the world where visitors can go on guided gorilla trekking safaris to see them in their natural habitat. Besides gorillas, Uganda hosts a wide range of other primates, including chimpanzees, which can be tracked in Kibale National Park and Budongo Forest Reserve. Kibale is sometimes called the “primate capital of the world” because it has one of the highest concentrations of primates, with 13 different species including black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys.
